Most of Vera’s power comes from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), which generates power from dams on the Columbia, Snake and other Northwest rivers. Another smaller portion of our power comes from the Northwest Intergovernmental Energy Supply (NIES), a group of publicly-owned utilities that have banded together to purchase facilities which generate power.
More than 60 percent of what you pay us goes straight to BPA. A rate increase from BPA has a dramatic effect on the rates our customers are charged.
Effective Oct. 1, 2017, our base charges increased. Our price of electricity per kilowatt-hour has been the same since 2015.
Our rates are some of the lowest in the nation and the region. See how we compare to others.
