Fuel sources

State law requires that all electric utilities disclose the fuel mix of their resources to their customers annually. Vera Water and Power purchases most of its energy from the Bonneville Power Administration. A small percentage of power is obtained through a market purchase for which we have no information regarding its fuel mix.

Annual fuel mix disclosure 2016. Vera Water and Power provides electricity produced with little carbon or greenhouse gas emissions. Over 97 percent of all our electric power is generated from resources with zero carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gas emissions. Most of that power is generated from hydroelectric dams along the Columbia River, including the Grand Coulee Rivers, including the Grand Coulee Dam, and the Snake River. Our mix of energy sources. 86.75% of our electricity is produced from hydroelectric dams. Biomass 1%. Coal 1%. Nuclear 1%. 190,000 MHW hydro, 120 MWH biomass, 17 MWH natural gas.
