Phone scammers target Vera Water and Power customers

Vera Water and Power customers were targeted by phone scammer today, June 15, 2020. According to reports, Vera customers received phone calls. The callers threatened to disconnect the Vera Water and Power customer power within 30 minutes unless they made an immediate phone payment.

Vera Water and Power never calls customers to demand phone payment. 

Also, Governor Inslee has put a moratorium on utility shut-off during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Across the country, impostor utility scammers target utility customers every day. Scammers typically use phone, in-person, and online tactics to target customers.

Raising awareness and educating customers about scams is Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS) top priority. UUAS spreads awareness of suspicious behaviors and the evolving tactics that scammers use to target customers.
