We will begin reading water meters Sept. 6, 2016. We will continue until all water meters have been read, which could continue through November.
Identifying our meter readers
Our meter readers wear a Vera Water and Power safety vest and carry photo identification that they are prepared to show at your request. If you have a question or concern, please call our office at 924-3800 for verification.
Keeping your meter accessible
Our meter readers sometimes encounter dangerous or difficult situations. In these cases, your meter may not be read. You can help by keeping your pets inside and away from meters. We may have to skip your meter if an animal on your premises is not restrained. It is also a good idea to keep the area around your meter vault clear of weeds, flowers, bushes and debris.
If your meter is located inside a locked gate, please make sure it is temporarily unlocked for our meter reader.
If for some reason we are unable to read your meter, we will notify you to schedule an appointment.
Vera is somewhat unique in the way water is installed. All of your water service line from water main into your home was bought and paid for at the time the house was built by the builder.
With the exception of the meter, this equipment belongs to you, and you are responsible for repairs to the water service line and meter box. We will maintain the meter, unless it freezes. The best way to protect the meter from freezing is to install a water meter insulation blanket which we can provide you.

Make sure that your water meter doesn’t freeze this winter. Stop by our office between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up your free meter insulation blanket. (There is a limit of one per account.)
Water meter vault lids
If your water meter vault lid is broken or missing, you can purchase a new one at our office.
