Understand My Bill

You will receive your bill monthly. The bill includes the cost of energy used, the monthly electric base charge, the monthly water base charge, the monthly street lighting charge, the monthly sewer charges (when applicable) and any other charges that may be due unless you are on our Average Payment Plan. The bill is due and payable upon receipt and becomes delinquent 30 days from the date it was printed. If you do not receive a bill, please call our office.

Account Information

You can find your account number at the top of your bill, located under “Account Information.”

Meter Reading

Your bill shows the meter readings and consumption for all of your meters. The water meter is shown each month, even though it is billed once per year. The consumption of electricity is in kilowatt hours (kWh) and water is in cubic feet. One cubic foot is approximately 7.5 gallons.

Current Charges

The current charges for the bill of each meter are shown in a single area on your bill. If you are an Average Payment Plan customer, your bill will show your average payment. You can find our current rates here.

Bill Summary

The bill summary area shows the summary of your complete account, including current and previous billings.

Usage History

The graph shows a comparison of the current and last year’s consumption. For customers with consolidated accounts, the chart is suppressed and the area is used for additional billing information.

Amount Enclosed

If the words AUTO PAY are in the “Amount Enclosed” box, your payment will automatically be withdrawn from your account.

Donation

If you would like to make a donation to help your fellow Vera customers who are experiencing difficulty making their utility payments, please add the amount you wish to donate to your payment, and write the amount in the slot at the bottom of your bill. Thank you for considering this option.
