Water Hardness
Vera’s water runs from semi-hard to hard with 12 to 18 grains of hardness per gallon.
Aquifer
Vera pumps its water from the Spokane Aquifer, a sole source aquifer. The Spokane Aquifer Joint Board (SAJB) has been established in the Spokane area to promote the protection of the Spokane Aquifer. Vera maintains involvement in programs that educate and promote awareness for the protection of this aquifer.
Chlorination
Vera Water and Power began full-time chlorination of the water system on October 1, 2013. View more information on chlorination.

PFAS Testing: Keeping You Informed
In August 2023, Vera Water and Power conducted its first round of PFAS group testing.
After analyzing the water samples collected from the Vera 9 Well sites, we found that all of them tested as Non-Detectable (ND) for PFAS.
In February 2024, we conducted another round of sampling from five sites, as required by EPA’s Fifth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5), and we found that all of the samples tested as Non-Detectable (ND).
